13th: Community Films and Conversations
October 14, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:40 pm
Powerful films can transport, challenge, and in many cases, open the mind to new ideas, perspectives and greater learning. Community Films and Conversations consists of three films over three months that are compelling to watch, that tell important stories and that inspire people to learn more and prompt conversations.
Moderators and special guests are selected based on the subject matter of each film and aim to engage the audience in meaningful dialogues about current issues related to diversity and social justice. Short receptions follow in the Museum Café.
Take an in-depth look at the prison system in the United States and how it reveals the nation’s history of inequality. The film is co-hosted by JCSM and the Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project with speaker Kyes Stevens.
