K-12 Art Club (Fall 2014)

December 14, 2014 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Art Clubs are in session for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Register for these art clubs at jcsm.auburn.edu to reserve your space. Parents are asked to stay with their child as they work on the project.

November 9, 1:30 pm: Wrinkly work

Based on the work of Billy Renkl, we’ll be creating and adding to found images. Painting on top of old illustrations, collaging photographs, pages from books, and other source materials will help us create interesting and unusual images that have an old feel with an edgy newness.

A public tour of Billy Renkl: Gleanings will be offered in conjunction with this art club.

December 7, 1:30 pm: Moving Through Space

Dance and movement are beautiful forms of art. Visual artists have documented the drama, form, and drapery of figures throughout the years. Many fine examples of the costumed figure are on view in Rembrandt, Rubens, Gainsborough, and the Golden Age of Painting in Europe, and locally with our friends at Variations Dance Studio. We’ll be creating dances, talking about their upcoming performances of The Nutcracker and drawing some beautiful costumes.

December 14, 1:30 pm: Animation Time

Making movies is hard work, but very fun! Come to JCSM and create characters and settings, and learn about the basics of inbetweening, animation, and creating narratives. At 2 pm, we will screen An American Tail.
