Selections from the museum’s permanent collection are on extended display in Chi Omega–Hargis Gallery and the Noel and Kathryn Dickinson Wadsworth Gallery. Many of JCSM’s “most-requested” works will be available for long-term study and repeated viewing
Favorite paintings from the Advancing American Art collection—back home after a two-year tour—will be rotated into the installation alongside other significant paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and additional media. Among the recent major acquisitions to be featured are Beth Lipman’s glass sculpture, Still Life with Papayas and Clementines, and Hank Williams, Honky Tonk Man by Roger Brown. A section of Chi Omega-Hargis Gallery is dedicated to works on paper, which will be changed periodically to limit their exposure to light. Held over due to extremely popular demand, the Auburn Oak sculptural bowl by Matt Moulthrop will remain on view in a new setting. We hope this magnificent new member of the Auburn Family will resonate with sports fans and art enthusiasts alike throughout a successful football season, and beyond!
Each visit you make to the permanent collection galleries should bring new and exciting insights, whether you are experiencing a work for the first time or gaining deeper familiarity and respect for an old friend. See you there!
