Many of our visitors’ favorites works of art at JCSM are featured this fall alongside new arrivals and “hidden gems” in an exhibition that illustrates the great variety in the museum’s permanent collection. Traditional and experimental forms of sculpture, painting, graphic and decorative arts, from America and abroad, together reiterate the theme of free expression and diversity that is central to our concurrent exhibition, Art Interrupted. Examining the changing notion of “modernism,” viewers can experience the gamut of approaches and use of materials that make the visual arts so exciting and inspirational. Included in the exhibition are works by Roger Brown, Howard Finster, Maximilien Luce, Pierre Auguste Renoir, William Zorach, and numerous others.
