This Spring we are offering two different programs for homeschool families!
All Homeschool programs are free and open to all ages. Please register on Eventbrite to reserve your space! We ask that an adult or guardian stays with your child(ren) for the duration of the program.
Homeschool Connection – February 26th and April 9th from 1-2pm.
We began piloting Homeschool Connection during the Fall 2017 semester in collaboration with the educators from the Auburn Arts Association’s Art for Homeschoolers Classes. Each Homeschool Connection session offers a 20-minute participatory presentation in the auditorium that teaches the concepts and vocabulary of the day. Then, homeschool families are provided with a self-guided resource to use as they explore these concepts in the galleries. Educators are available in the galleries to help with the activity.
In February, we will focus on our new Audubon exhibition, and in April we will focus on printmaking.
Homeschool Art Club – May 15th from 1-2:30pm, June 11th and additional date that week, Times TBD
Homeschool Art Club is a new program that will be a Family Studio style program (our weekend public program) created just for homeschool families! Each Art Club will feature a project that is different from our Family Studio project that month. We will start each Art Club by visiting the galleries and then will complete an art project inspired by the theme that day!
Our May project will be inspired by works on display from the JCSM permanent collection, and our June date will focus on our visiting artist Florence Neal! Florence attended Auburn University, and currently works in New York City. She is the founder of the Kentler International Drawing Space. Florence will be turning one of our galleries into her printmaking studio the week of June 11th-16th. Our Art Club will be a two-part class, starting on Monday at the Arboretum where Florence will be creating tree rubbings. Then we will plan a second art club that week so you can come to JCSM and see Florence create prints and make artwork of your own!
Registration will be posted for the June Art Club dates with Florence Neal later this semester. Information will be sent to our homeschool e-mail list and posted on our website. If you would like to be added to the e-mail list, please e-mail email@example.com
New! Gallery resources for all visitors. Come add your voice to JCSM and participate using our new resources.
