Art clubs during the school year are for all ages. The meet up is an open studio format, meaning you can use the full time allotted or leave when you finish your project. Arts Clubs are funded in part by a City of Auburn K-12 Arts Education Outreach Grant. Parents are asked to stay with their child as they work on the project.

To help us with planning for each session, please follow these steps for online registration:

1. Register the number of youth attending the session only. Do so by selecting the quantity from the drop down menu.

2. Carefully select the date you plan on attending from the drop down menu. Since each session is lesson, you do need to register for each date and time.

3. We understand there are conflicts where you may not be able to join us. To open up waiting list spots, please let us know as soon as possible by email if you need to cancel.

4. The email account that you use to register is the one that museum staff may use to contact you to update you on activities and any items you may need for that week’s session. We may ask you for some program feedback, too.

January 11, 1:30 pm: Still-Life Sculptures

After taking a look at Still Life with Papayas and Clementines by Beth Lipman in our permanent collection, we’ll create sculptural still-life compositions with unusual materials.

February 8, 1:30 pm: Metal Drawing

Using metal-tipped drawing implements and prepared surfaces, we’ll make delicate, detailed drawings, just like Victor Koulbak.

March 15, 1:30 pm: Keep on Truckin’

Expressionist paintings of trucks by John Himmelfarb will give us some ideas on how to paint various vehicles. Don’t go down the road feeling bad when you could be a sugar magnolia at JCSM.

April 12, 1:30 pm: Spring Windmills

Connecting to the common book on campus, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, we’ll construct our own windmills.
