Auburn Speaks is an annual publication of Auburn University Research addressing issues that impact life and work in our state and beyond. The inaugural issue, The Oil Spill of 2010, included an article that featured works from the Louise Hauss and David Brent Miller Audubon Collection.  Coauthored by Scott Bishop, Curator of Education at JCSM, master birder Barry Fleming, associate professor in the Department of Art, and ornithologist Geoffrey Hill, professor of Biology, the article entitled “Ornithology through Audubon’s Scientific Lens” was inspired by the exhibition, Birds of the Gulf Coast: Selections from the Louise Hauss and David Brent Miller Audubon Collection, which JCSM mounted in response to the oil spill resulting from the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in April of 2010. To see a virtual exhibition of Birds of the Gulf Coast.
