Dinner with Dale Museum Fundraiser
Dale Kennington is not only a skillful and thought-provoking artist but she is also a wonderful well-traveled and cultured personality who will charm you with delightful conversation and her vivacious spirit. The museum is having a most interesting fundraising event we are calling Dinner with Dale.
Roger and Joyce Lethander are planning a five course dining extravaganza created by Chef John Hamme, complete with a selection of fine wines to accompany each course. We are auctioning off the individual seats to this dinner party to the thirteen (13) highest bidders.
This amazing opportunity is open to all JCSM members. Members should have received a letter in the mail with all the details. If you are a JCSM member and interested but did not receive a letter please contact us at 334-844-3005. Bids for seats are due September 12, 2009. Happy bidding!

Lukasz Kuropaczewski, Classical Guitar Performance
Lukasz Kuropaczewski, born in 1981 in Gniezno, Poland, has toured extensively throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, South America and Japan. Most notably, he has performed solo recitals in London’s Royal Festival Hall, The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, National Philharmony Hall and National Radio Hall in Warsaw, and Carnegie Hall in New York.
In 2005, Kuropaczewski performed the Concierto de Aranjuez with the National Polish Radio Orchestra under the baton of British Conductor Mark Fitz-Gerald on a special “Last Night of the Proms” concert in Krakow, Poland. He performs regularly with orchestras across Europe.
Kuropaczewski has five recordings to his credit: Lukasz Kuropaczewski—Recital, Kuropaczewski plays Spanish Music, Concerto de Aranjuez, Lukasz Kuropaczewski: Portrait, and most recently, Lukasz Kuropaczewski: Polish Music. All have received critical acclaim around the world.
Lukasz Kuropaczewski is on faculty of the Academy of Music in Poznan, Poland as well as a guitar teacher at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He is also the artistic director of the Polish Guitar Academy.
Lukasz Kuropaczewski plays Savarez strings and Boguslaw Teryks guitars.

Members’ Fall Opening and Reception
Opening reception for Elvis at 21: New York to Memphis, photographs by Alfred Wertheimer, organized in conjunction with Govinda Gallery, Washington, D.C.
Lecture by Chris Murray, 6 pm, auditorium.
Chris Murray is founder and director of Govinda Gallery and has organized over two hundred and fifty exhibitions of paintings, drawings, and photographs, many of which have traveled throughout the United States and abroad, including countries such as Germany, Spain, Ireland, England, the Netherlands, Mexico and Cuba. He has edited and authored over a dozen books and catalogues including Between Midnight and Day: The Last Unpublished Blues Archive (Action Publishing Group/ Insight Editions, 2003), Elvis at 21: New York to Memphis (Insight Editions, 2006), Knockout: The Art of Boxing (Insight Editions, 2008), and John and Yoko: A New York Love Story (Insight Editions, 2008).
Elvis will be in the building! Be sure to join us for the reception following Murray’s talk. Young Elvis will be entertaining members during the reception with song and dance.

JCSM’s 6th birthday celebration
Come celebrate the museum’s sixth birthday with your family! This year we will focus on the exhibition Elvis at 21, and include Elvis tribute band Young Elvis and the Blue Suedes, and projects for children that connect the man, the music, and the artistic work of Al Wertheimer. Come join us October 11th, from 1 to 4, to celebrate 6 years of JCSM, eat some cake, and shake those hips with the king of rock’n’roll! This event is part of our Educational programming offered to the community.
