Naming Opportunities

A naming gift to The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art provides a highly visible and lasting tribute to an individual or individuals whose extraordinary contributions deserve recognition and commemoration. A variety of areas inside the museum and The Museum Gardens remain available for dedication. Each dedication will be recognized in the appropriate locale, and the name of the benefactor incised in the marble of The Founder's Wall located in the museum's beautiful main lobby.

Auditorium ($1.5 million)
The Auditorium is a formal presentation space with seating for more than 120 people. The room is equipped for slide lectures, musical performances, films and other presentations that are held in conjunction with receptions, banquets and museum openings.

Directorship, Director's Office and Conference Room ($1 million)
These combined spaces serve as the office of the director and the director's private Conference Room. The spaces provide an important area for small meetings of the museum's staff or friends of the museum. Located in close proximity to the Auditorium, the Conference Room also serves as a private area where visiting lecturers prepare for presentations and museum guests meet with the museum's director.

Museum Shop ($500,000)
The Museum Shop offers visitors the opportunity to acquire a large array of art books, posters, exhibition catalogs and other remembrances of their museum visit. All proceeds from Museum Shop sales directly support the museum's operations and programs.

Museum Café ($500,000)
The Museum Café serves a variety of light meals and refreshments and has a seating capacity of more than 50 people. The space, which opens onto the museum's terrace, is often used for both museum and non-museum receptions and special events. Outdoor seating on the terrace is accessible from the restaurant.

Grand Gallery ($1.5 million)
With travertine niches, an intricately patterned marble floor and a ceiling height of over 16 feet, the Grand Gallery is a space of distinction. The Grand Gallery provides a refined setting for the museum's collection of sculpture and decorative arts and also provides access to the museum's other galleries. Its floor area is expansive and the gallery is often used for a number of social events, including stand-up receptions for 400 people and sit-down banquets for more than 150.

Rotunda ($1 million)
Constructed of the highest quality material, the Rotunda sets the standard to which all public architecture in Auburn aspires. The museum's Main Lobby, Grand Gallery, Museum Shop, Terrace and Restaurant are all accessible from the Rotunda, which is composed of a vaulted ceiling, clerestory windows and a semicircular glass wall through which the Terrace's fountain can be viewed. An important work of sculpture is likely to be installed permanently in the Rotunda area.

Outdoor Terrace - Phase I ($1.5 million)
The Terrace will be constructed in two phases, with Phase I as part of the original building plan. Accessible from the Rotunda, the Grand Gallery and the Museum Restaurant, the Terrace overlooks a four-acre lake and a carefully designed park-like landscape. Museum Restaurant patrons enjoy outdoor dining on the Terrace in full view of the Terrace Water Fountain.

Outdoor Terrace - Phase II ($1 million)
Phase II of the Terrace's construction will begin when funding is acquired. This phase of construction will expand the area of the Terrace immediately adjacent to the Museum Restaurant.

Water Feature - Rear Terrace ($150,000)
One of the most important and visible elements of the design of the museum and its gardens is the Terrace Water Feature. The feature, visible from the garden area adjacent to College Street, will border the glass wall which defines the outer edge of the interior Rotunda. The Terrace Water Feature echoes the design of the water feature near the building's front facade.

Sculpture Plinths ($1 million each)
A number of Sculpture Plinths or pedestals are scattered throughout the garden area flanking the museum entrance. Each contribution to name a Plinth will aid in the acquisition of an important work of monumental sculpture that will be installed permanently on the site.
