Art Excursion to the Atlanta Botanical Garden

Join JCSM for an exciting day-long excursion to the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Thursday, October 22, 2009. The garden is home to many exotic plants from around the world and features dozens of permanent pieces of art. However, the highlight of this excursion will be a guided tour of the Henry Moore exhibition, Moore in America, which displays works of the most celebrated sculptor of the 1900s. Many of his works are an abstract view of the human body, typically depicting mother and child or reclining figures suggesting the shape of the female body. In 2008 the Moore in America exhibition, containing 20 of Moore’s major works, was ranked by TIME magazine among the top 10 museum exhibits in the country. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to see the works of the most celebrated sculptor of the 1900s!
Your $90 ticket includes admission to the garden and the exciting Moore in America exhibition, a guided tour, lunch at the Garden Café, all transportation costs, and light snacks on the bus.

Itinerary

7:30am CDT	Members meet in the Jule Collins Smith Museum parking lot
8:00am CDT	Depart the museum for the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Enjoy refreshments en route
11:00am EDT	Arrive at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and begin tour of the Henry Moore exhibition
12:15pm EDT	Lunch at the Garden Café
1:15pm EDT	Free time to explore the Botanical Garden
3:00pm EDT	Meet back at bus
3:30pm EDT	Depart for home. Enjoy more refreshments en route
5:00pm CDT	Arrive at Jule Collins Smith Museum
