Bill Steiner to speak at JCSM’s Late Night Thursday

AUBURN, AL- The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art welcomes everyone to enjoy of our late night programs every third Thursday of the month. This event features a special program, followed by a reception, admittance to the museum galleries and a free wine tasting.

The next Late Night Thursday program will begin at 5pm on September 17, 2009 with a lecture given by Bill Steiner, author of Audubon Art Prints: A Collector’s Guide to Every Edition (University of South Carolina Press, 2003).  An accomplished entomologist, herpetologist, and horticulturist, he holds degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.  Steiner is a field ecologist and expert bird-watcher with one of the most significant private collections of Audubon prints in the United States.  His talk will include a presentation of prints by other ornithological artists such as Alexander Wilson, John Gould, J.W. Hill, and several others.  Steiner invites the public to bring prints to the lecture where he will review for free.
