When you visit The Jule’s website, you are likely able to see, analyze and emotionally react to pieces in the museum’s collection – but how might you describe a piece of art (or even the act of close looking) to someone else to give them the same experience?
Alt-text, or alternative text, is a written description of a piece of artwork, providing visually impaired audiences with descriptive aids to better experience art on a digital platform and allowing visitors of all abilities to fully engage with the collection and exhibitions.
Join our educators and student guides to learn about the importance of alt-text and how we implement it in a museum context to create greater accessibility. And afterward, create your own alt-text for selected works in our galleries and share them with others.
General admission and all programs are free for everyone.
