Three years-worth of diverse creativity and innovative artwork from Auburn’s nationally-renowned faculty will be on display at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University from Feb. 9 through April 7. “AU VI: Department of Art and Art History Studio Faculty Exhibition”is the latest and sixth overall in an ongoing series of triennial exhibitions that features the current work of Auburn’s artists in a wide variety of media from ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and interactive pieces. Since 2003, this collaboration between museum and department has given students and the general public the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the work of the university’s award-winning and influential artists and art historians. This year’s exhibition, presented in part with generous support from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Alabama Bicentennial Commission, will include pieces from recent faculty members.
The exhibition is an excellent chance for students and the general public to see the range and complexity of the ongoing work of Auburn professors, and italso allows faculty members themselves to get more familiar with the focus of their colleagues.
