12. Gregory Johnson, WHAT’S IN THE QUEUE

In my early career I focused on figurative themes in bronze and cast stainless steel. My new work focuses instead on geometric shapes and segmented circle forms that depict or suggest things that we see and are familiar with but cannot touch or quantify. I am inspired by curves found in life and nature–I like how they meander, cross over each other, and are more naturally apparent to me than straight lines. My emphasis on the circle as a thematic symbol portrays that ubiquitous presence that I find in everyday life–one with no beginning, middle, or end.
